The digital world is growing massively. At the beginning, digital world was still very traditional in terms of graphics had low resolution and also the number of colors that was very limited, an era where the digital world has only 256 color or 8-bit era. In this era, people began to think of Graphics as something that can satisfy their eyes as visual entertainment. This era has became the turning point of the progress of Digital Graphics in Indonesia. Nowadays, as we know the pixel system has thousands and even millions of colors, with high resolution.
This is the phenomenon which became inspiration from the Creative Show from LaSalle College International Jakarta in 2013 which was held at The Hall Senayan City on 20 April 2013. Great appreciation was given to Digital era which made TWOFIFTYSIX or 256, the number of colors in the early age of Graphics as the title of this year’s event.
The stage was designed elegantly. Giant cubes were designed into a surface to display the Video Mapping a center point in the room where 150 graduates was inaugurated. Meanwhile in the exhibition area, each of LaSalle College International Jakarta’s program participated to make the event more interesting, such as Body Painting Live Demo where the exhibition visitors can freely splashing paint onto the body of the dancers inside a giant box. Photography Exhibition that used a large panel to show the student works. One of them is Christopher Reuel Santoso whose work has appeared in Vogue Italia online. Digital Media Design program is also displayed the work in the form of packaging Design, as well as 3-dimensional acrylic panels. In this time, Interior Design program had collaboration with KARE, a boutique furniture from Germany, made an installation which combination between KARE Interior products and the students as well. The last but not least, there was also Fashion Bazaar which held by Fashion Business students. They got the opportunity to introduce their products developed during their learning process at LaSalle College International Jakarta and also proved their existence in the Fashion Retail Industry in Indonesia.
20 April 2013 was also a very special day for 6 people selected as the best students: Gloria Agatha for Fashion Design program, Lee Suhaerin for Photography program, Valencia Arifin for Fashion Business program, Olivia Eriariani Sumitro, Agatha Alexandra for the Interior Design program, RR Andini Solita for Artistic Make Up program. The peak of this event started at seven o’clock in the evening on the same day, where all the guests, parents of students, industries and the press were also entertained with a Fashion Show featuring 196 pieces of Fashion Design student works.
The works that shown were diverse, from ready to wear clothes by Erwin’s who won Best Mini Collection, a children’s clothing designed by Gloria Agatha, Putri Rahma Couture’s works and Avant Garde works by Natharika Septiana which also displayed in Beijing Hempel Awards 2013. This time, the packacging of the Fashion Show was different because it supported with advanced technology of Multimedia Video Mapping.
LaSalle College International Jakarta as an International scale educational institution from Montreal Canada offering six courses such as Fashion Design, Fashion Business, Digital Media Design, Interior Design, Photography, and Artistic Make Up. LaSalle College International Jakarta is focusing to be a great institution for young designers in Indonesia to express and to prepare them for global competition.
